Not at all! At our partnered car rentals you require only debit card and/or cash.
The commission is always paid by car rental, not you! If you book through us you pay same or commonly even cheaper. Usually you pay less then market price and have full English support in Spain. Some of Spanish car rentals demand credit card but with us we guarantee only debit card. We have 10 years of experience in the field and we have tried and tested hundreds of rentals in Spain and its islands.
The easiest way is to open the tank cover and there is a hint on the lid, "E5" and "E10" is "gasoline" or "Gasolina". "B7" is the designation for diesel.
Driving on the right, as in most mainland European countries. Speed limits: 120 km/h on motorways and expressways (highways), 90 km/h on ordinary roads and 50 km/h in towns.
Parking on public roads is not always allowed and is not free. In many cities, parking areas are regulated and charged for. They can usually be identified by the presence of parking meters in the area. Pay particular attention to ACIRE zones: special zones in which only authorised vehicles are allowed and which therefore have the appropriate ACIRE card.
Children under 135 cm tall must not sit in the front seat and must always use an approved restraint. The use of a restraint with a backrest is recommended until the child reaches 150 centimetres. The law then speaks of a limit of 135 cm.
There are several types of fines, those for bad parking are usually dealt with locally (polija local, municipal authority). For speeding, entering residential zones, entering no-go areas during high season (see Formentor in Mallorca), such fines are usually dealt with via a website, the procedure is written on the fine. Fines that go to the rental company first, and the rental company has to identify the driver, in which case the rental companies require payment of an administration fee plus you will have to sort out payment of the fine itself. They never deal with rental companies fines for clients!
It is forbidden to use a mobile phone while driving unless a hands-free device is in use. Failure to comply with this regulation can lead to a fine of up to €200. The following must be observed
A reasonable safety distance: the regulations stipulate that a minimum distance of one and a half metres must be maintained in towns and two metres on the road. The use of lights is compulsory at all times, day and night. Dipped-beam headlights must always be switched on and headlights may only be used on unlit roads and when there are no oncoming vehicles. The maximum permitted blood alcohol level in Spain is 0.5 grams per litre of blood for ordinary drivers and 0.3 grams per litre of blood for novice and professional drivers. It is important to remember that the best option is always to avoid drinking alcohol before driving, as even small amounts can negatively affect your ability to drive. Additionally, if an insurance claim happens and you are measured at a non-zero blood alcohol level, your insurance will not cover your claim. Driving without a T-shirt is prohibited: this is considered a minor offence and can result in a fine of up to €100.
